With double-sized plates of bones and whole skeletons, the latter reconstructed by the author, the German palaeontologist Rudolph [August Birminhold Sebastian] Ludwig (1812-1880) (see Adler). Dedicated to Charles Darwin, and including a new species called Alligator darwini. Provenance: With the red, black and gilt bookplate of the Swiss palaeontologist William Alexandre Ooster (b. 1816).
