Jena, [L. Oken], 1817. 4to (24.6 x 20.6 cm). 32 pp. [numbered 1154-1185]. Contemporary marbled wrappers.

A rarely seen paper on the differences between the zoological systems of Lamarck and Lorenz Oken (1779-1851), written by the latter, and published in consecutive issues of his magazine, Isis, (founded in 1816), Volume VIII, nos. 145-148. The differences between the two systems are interesting and often obvious, but, apparently, that of Oken was not superior and did not prevail. Provenance: bookplate of Frédéric Hauth, Docteur en Médecine, mounted on the front wrapper verso. Wrappers worn at edges, with a few repairs; paper slightly spotted and creased, otherwise good, complete. Not in Cat. BM(NH).
