The first part of this famous series, containing the general introduction, and the unicellular infusoires. Provenance: with on the front pastedown a holograph, F-C de Lastanque; and on the front free endpaper recto the name of the Australian malacologist and palaeontologist Jeffrey D. Stillwell, with date and place of acquisition; and on the title and rear free endpaper a stamp of the Canton de Vaud - Bibliothèque cantonale (discarded). Boards rubbed; some pencilled ticks. Otherwise a very good, clean copy. Cat. BM(NH), p. 1049.
