Chiffres et Monogrammes dans le Style Moderne.
Paris, A Calavas, ca. 1900. Folio (37.4 x 26.9 cm). Title page, 32 plates printed in red and black. In contemporary (original?) burgundy cloth portfolio.
A wonderful compilation of original Art Nouveau style numbers and monograms, edited and published by the Parisian publisher A. Calavas. Designers include the French artist and engraver Paul Anatole Leborgne (1846-1910), his colleague and compatriot, Sylla Eustache (1856-1933), the French painter Jacques Debut (active ca. 1890-1925), best known for his quintessential Art Nouveau Cycles Rudge poster (1897), and the renowned French artist, botanist, and entomologist Émile Allain Séguy (1877-1951), the latter being famous for his Les Fleurs et Leurs Applications Décoratives, and his pochoir renderings in two famous works simply titled Insectes, and Papillons. Portfolio a bit worn, especially at spine ends; boards partly damp-stained; title leaf toned, otherwise very good, unmarked. Rare. Not in Schneider-Henn, Ornament und Dekoration.
