Berlin, G. Reimer, 1849. 4to (34.0 x 25.1 cm). 71 pp.; four fine lithographed plates. Original quarter cloth over printed boards.
Important work in which the author considered the labyrinthodonts (now regarded as Temnospondyli) as intermediate between amphibians and reptiles. Trematosaurus, here introduced as a new genus, is rather crocodile-like although not closely related. Some foxing to plates and upper outer margin of the text, spine cover with some wear, otherwise a very good copy. Cat. BM(NH) p. 290; Zittel, Geschichte, p. 827.
