Verzameling van waarneemingen omtrent de dierkunde en de vergelijkende ontleedkunde; gedaan in den Atlantischen Oceäan, het binnenste van het nieuwe-vasteland, en de Zuidzee, geduurende de jaaren 1799, 1800, 1801, 1802 en 1803. Uit het Fransch. Met plaaten.
Haarlem, A. Loosjes Pz., 1805. 4to (28.3 x 22.5 cm). viii [recte vi], 44 pp.; seven engraved plates (two larger, folded; three partially hand-coloured). Slightly later marbled boards, blind cloth spine.
The first (and only?) Dutch translation of part of the work by Von Humboldt (here: van Humboldt) and Bonpland. The title translates as "Collections of observations on zoology and comparative anatomy, done in the Atlantic Ocean, the heart of the new continent [i.e. South America] and the South Sea during the years 1799-1803. Translated from the French. With plates". Indeed this is a translation of a part of the work listed by Nissen under 2048, 2. The plates are very well done, showing anatomical details of pelicans, a heron, a pheasant, several monkeys, a crocodile, etc., as well as an adult brown-mantled tamarin, Simia leonina Von Humboldt 1805 (in colour) and several fish. Boards rubbed, with both top outer corners perished, but easily repaired. Old stamp on the title page verso, otherwise a good, clean copy. Rare. OCLC reports just three copies worldwide, all three in Dutch libaries. Nissen ZBI, 2048. Not in Landwehr.
