A rare work on mammalian and avian intestinal parasites, with fine, lithographed plates. Written by the Dutch zoologist, parasitologist, veterinary doctor and rector magnificus of Utrecht University from 1833 to 1834, Theodoor Gerard van Lidth de Jeude (1788-1863). Between 1821 and 1826 he was the first director of the National Veterinary School, the first educational institution where veterinary medicine was taught in the Netherlands. In Utrecht he owned a park and museum, with a collection of animal skeletons. This is hist most important contribution to zoology. Copies with just ten plates have been advertised. This copy has 11 plates. Lacks, however, an explanatory leaf to plate 11. Otherwise, a well-preserved copy. Cat. BM(NH) p. 1110; Not in Nissen ZBI.
