Rare work by the German entomologist Christian Friedrich Freyer (1794-1885). Well-illustrated and nicely hand-coloured. Old owner's inscriptions on the front flyleaf recto (Jungbluth, and Dr. Vd. Hoeven 1865; the latter probably the Dutch zoologist, malacologist and herpetologist Jan Van Der Hoeven, 1801-1868). Boards worn, spine perished, front board nearly detached.
