Bleeker, P.
Collected fish papers of Pieter Bleeker. Collected and edited by W. H. Lamme. Volumes I-XIV. [Complete].

The all-important complete reprint edition of all the original fish papers by this eminent ichthyologist, including an English translation of his autobiography, and a fascimile reprint of the auction catalogue of Bleeker's fabulous fish collection. Pieter Bleeker (1819-1878) was one of the most productive 19th century ichthyologists, identifying and describing nearly 2000 new fish species, and introducing more than 500 new genera. In Dean's "Bibliography of the fishes" the list of Bleeker's publication occupies more than 20 full pages; more than any other author. His main area of study was the so called Malayan Archipelago, including the Dutch East Indies (Indonesia), now known to be a biological hot-spot. Bleeker's papers were published in many books and periodicals over a long period of time, and it is near-impossible to compile a complete set his original writings. The publisher's price was Dfl. 3.000 (€ 1300). Some vague and unobrusive stains to a few cloth covers. A very good, clean, set. Dean I, pp. 118-138.
