Original uniform printed wrappers.
A rare work by the great Russian ichthyologist Leo Semenovich Berg (1876-1950). It was supposed to form a part of a larger series, of which the first volume appeared in 1911. A second volume, however, was never published, probably because of the turmoil of WWI and the Communist Revolution. This is the complete third volume - published in three parts - all dealing with bone fishes. The third part was published with much delay, but is present in this set. On the cover of the second part it is stated that it includes 102 text illustrations, however, the correct number is 112. Uncut. Stamp on front wrappers. Otherwise a very good, clean set. Neither in Nissen, nor in Dean I, who only listed the first volume of this series.
