A very rare work, exclusively on beetles. Written and illustrated by the German botanist, herpetologist, entomologist, natural history dealer, and illustrator Jacob Sturm (1771-1848). Not to be confused with the author's Verzeichniss meiner Insecten-Sammlung (1796). According to Junk "dieses Werk ist ein rein wissenschaftliches und enthält die Beschreibung von 40 neuen Arten unter den 7193 Species, welche die Sammlung Sturm's damals enthielt". Provenance: pictorial bookplate of the French entomologist, bibliophile, and entomo-historian Jacques d'Aguilar (1921-2018) mounted on the front pastedown. Text with some weak foxing, plates fine.
