[Trade Catalogue - Patterned Paper]
Fabrication mécanique de papiers de fantaisie.
Paris, Bénard et Cie, [ca. 1968]. Oblong folio (11.3 x 16.3 cm). Title page, 102 paper samples. Stiff, patterned wrappers. Front wrapper with red and gilt label (with Bénard logo), mounted.
An unusual catalogue, of "Exclusive Designs", containing glossy paper samples (designs for wallpaper, book covers, etc.) chiefly showing reptile-skin patterns, brick-wall and pebbled patterns, and several other embossed patterns, in a variety of colours. The firm, Bénard, produced Gaufres, Indiennes, Micaces, Brocarts, Ors, en Rames ou en Bobines. Suédine, Velours, Cellodermes" [waffle fabrics, Indian prints, mica fabrics, brocades, gold fabrics, in rolls or spools. Suede, velvet, celloderm], this catalogue showing celloderm paper. Individual samples are printed in colour, monochrome, or gold. It is interesting to see the effect of different colours on the same graphic design. The samples are individually numbered (stamps on versos; numbers in a rather random order). Included: a cyclostat price list on yellow paper, recording size, minimal number of copies, etc., with some additions by hand. A very good, unmarked copy.
