This is a unique three-volume set of the offprints of papers (co)authored by the renowned Dutch botanist Cornelis Gijsbert Gerrit Jan van Steenis (1901-1986), dealing principally with flora of the Malay Archipelago, in particular Java and other Indonesian islands. The three volumes are subdivided as follows: I. Floristiek - Plantensystematiek (floristics, plant systematics); II. Oekologie - Plantengeographie - Botanische Exploratie (Ecology, plant geography, botanical exploration); III. Biographie - Algemene Botanie (biographies, general botany). The last part includes obituaries. The papers vary in size; a few are a bit trimmed. Uniform library labels at each spine foot; cancelled library stamp on front free endpapers. Otherwise a very good, clean set. Some parts may be quite rare.
