London, Linnean Society, 1879. Large 4to (30.3 x 23.7 cm). 49 pp.; six lithographed plates of which four very nicely hand-coloured. Original printed wrappers.

An excellent monograph by one of the foremost 19th-century British entomologists, John Obadiah Westwood (1805-1893). It deals with a group of very colourful Australian and Neotropical butterflies. The coloured plates by C. Berjeau are truly excellent. Published in the Society's Transactions, Second Series - Zoology, Volume 1(4), and now seldom seen. With the issue's wrappers. Two smaller and unrelated contributions, published in the same issue, were removed. A very good, clean copy. Horn-Schenkling II(4), p. 422. Not in Nissen.
