Aluminium-Folien. Die Leuchtende Farbe. [AND] Die zarte, elegante Töning. [AND] Ton in Ton...
Munich, Metallpapier- Bronzefarben- Blattmetallwerke Aktiengesellschaft München, [1936]-1938. Three oblong booklets (11.3x 18.5 cm). Each with a title leaf and in total 108 aluminium foil leaves (44, 32, 32), each either in silver or gold, and each with a different embossing with floral or geometrical patterns - or colour printing, and a catalogue number. All tissue-guarded. Tissue guards with a round hole. Light pink wrappers with red or purple title; one pictorial, with a red glossy rear wrapper.
A fabulous collection of aluminium or "tin" foil samples, in three original booklets, with the following titles in German: Die Leuchtende Farbe, Die zarte, elegante Töning, [AND] Ton in Ton... (The vibrant colour, The delicate, elegant tint, and Ton sur ton....). The first shows, on the front wrapper, a rising sun and a coconut tree; the other two have script titles, without an illustration. In all three booklets, a note is stamped on the front wrapper verso, stating that the booklets are strictly personal, and should not be given away. The production process of these fine, colourful sheets is as follows: "The continuous casting method is much less energy-intensive and has become the preferred process. It is difficult to produce rollers with a gap fine enough to cope with the foil gauge, and to avoid this, as well as reducing tearing, increasing production rates, and controlling thickness, for the final pass when producing thicknesses below 0.025 mm (1 mil), two sheets are rolled at the same time, doubling the thickness of the gauge at entry to the rollers. After the rollers, the two sheets are separated, which produces foil with one shiny side and one matte side" (Wikipedia). The circular holes in the tissue guards are peculiar: they are protective, yet provide a greatly enhancing their current, near perfect state. All three are, considering their age, in excellent condition.
